Caleb Jeshurun

Caleb - He followed the Lord wholeheatedly. (Deuteronomy 1:36)
Jeshurun - It means 'upright one' used to refer to the people of Israel used three times in Deuteronomy and once in Isaiah.

i've been reading Deuteronomy for my queit time for some quite time now and im really amazed with a lot of great man mentioned in this book. yung tipong, "ay Lord gusto ko ganyan." and one of the greatest story behind the name that caught me was Caleb. He was mentioned only once in the book but he made such a great impact that whenever I recall his name, it gives me the encouragement and power to really stand up for my faith.

"Not a man of this evil generation shall see
that I swore to give your forefathers, EXCEPT Caleb
son of Jephunneh. He will see it, and I will give him and his
descendants the land he set his feet on, because he
followed the Lord wholeheartedly."
-Deuteronomy 1:35-36

amazing diba? i just can't imagine the kind of environment he use to live in but still because of his faith, because of his heart, God set him apart :)

Jeshurun, i actually first encountered it at Deut. 32:15. this word came a hebrew word which means "upright people" which was used as a poetical word to refer to the Israelites. What a great honor would it be to be a part of Jeshurun - to be upright before God.

Caleb Jeshurun. So why am I writing my blog? because I want to name my baby boy (if im gonna have one. Lord, please! haha!) Caleb Jeshurun. He will be someone who will follow God wholeheartedly and be upright before Him :)

"Take to heart all the words I have solemnly
declared to you this day, so
that you may command your children to
obey carefully all the words of this law."
-Deuteronomy 32:46
